The University is located across two campuses in Headingley and the city centre, tracing its origins to the City of Leeds Training College founded in 1913 and the Leeds Mechanics Institute in 1824. The Sheila Silver Library is located in the Leslie Silver Building on the City Campus, and there is another library in the James Graham Building on the Headingley Campus (postcode LS6 3QS).
Staff and students access thousands of resources on and off campus including dedicated collections for teacher training students, online subject guides and Archive and Special Collections which preserves material for educational, professional and research purposes. Access to the Archive is via appointment.
Our Academic Support Team works with colleagues to develop students’ academic skills via workshops, modules and Skills for Learning web resources. The Library also supports the university’s virtual learning environment, MyBeckett, and associated learning technologies.
Our libraries are open 24/7 most of the year and 24/7 Library and Student IT advice is available via phone, chat and email with self-help materials including FAQs and videos.
Our libraries are open to students, staff, SCONUL Access and Guest Users; please check your eligibility if you would like to visit the Library. Full information about our services is available on our website.
