Leeds Museums and Galleries is a family of heritage sites, museums, country house estates and a flagship art gallery. The main storage site for the collections is located at our Leeds Discovery Centre.

The unique storage site at Leeds Discovery Centre holds 95% of the collections and is one of the few in the UK open to the public. Appointments can be made to have a tour of the objects store and facilities by emailing the address below. Tours are free and available throughout the week by advanced booking only.
Established in 1821, Leeds Museums and Galleries is the largest local authority-run museum service in England and has one of the most significant multidisciplinary collections in the UK.
Leeds Museums and Galleries collections of natural history, fine and decorative art, and industrial history have been designated as collections of national significance. They care for over 1.3 million objects, which they use to inspire, educate, entertain and challenge the people of Leeds and visitors to the city.
They exist to collect, preserve and interpret historic, cultural and scientific collections and places, and use them as inspiration for educating, entertaining and inspiring the people of Leeds and beyond.
